This year I’m trying something new. The posts will be visual and/or audio prompts. Hopefully, you can use them to keep the words flowing. Obviously, they won’t fit everyone’s story every day (or it would be a seriously whacked tale). Use what you can and feel free to share. 🙂
Image number one…
How you interpret and integrate this photo into your story is up to you. Artistic license. Here are some examples: the sound of wind blowing leaves or creaking branches, children climbing, a bird falling out of a nest, forest fire… The list goes on. Get that word count!
Jasen Delay, the young, widowed (& sexy) mayor of Fortuna, dove into his work after his wife died in a flash flood. Two years later, he’s tired of wearing a placating smile and coasting through the days. On a spring day, while strolling through the town square, he spied an out-of-town vehicle. The temperature rose like his curiosity. But nothing warmed his soul like the beauty who stepped out of the van and into the morning sunshine.
From first glance, the small Texan town of Fortuna captivated Mikayla (Mik). It needed a makeover but most of the residents, especially men, kept their noses glued to the pages of romance novels. With the buildings in decline, Mik takes on the challenge of opening the eyes of City Hall. The longer she stays in the cozy town the more it feels like home, especially with the mayor giving her VIP treatment.
Determined to keep their relationship professional, Jasen and Mik must stymie their blossoming feelings and focus on revitalizing Fortuna’s downtown. A nosy newspaper reporter, a perverted prankster, and sightings of Jasen’s wife’s ghost have Mik second-guessing the choice to stay. Jasen will do anything to keep Mik in town. Fortuna needs her but, more importantly, he needs her. With Jasen’s help, can she wade through small-town bureaucracy, solve the mystery of the canyon ghost and learn to trust to her heart?
