The last two years I’ve blogged during the month of November. In 2015, I prepared humorous memes about writing and various genres. For 2016, I asked (pleaded with) multiple NaNoWriMo participants to share how they were introduced to NaNoWriMo, what genre they write, for pictures of their writing buddy and words of advice for completing Nano or writing in general. Each post was unique and inspiring. I will link the 2017 daily posts to the previous years’ posts. Be inspired and procrastinate.
This year will be different. The posts will contain visual and/or audio prompts. Hopefully, you can use them to keep the words flowing. Obviously, they won’t fit everyone’s story every day (or it would be a seriously whacked tale).
For a visual prompt: what would your character do if it saw the image? Is it a picture on the wall or a past memory. The uses are boundless.
For the audio: close your eyes and listen. How would it make one of your characters feel? Would it motivate them? Could it alter your setting?
Get crazy. Think latterly, or vertically and diagonally (Diagon Alley?) Think inside the box, unless it’s creepier outside. Use what you can to make the words flow. Please share, you might help other wrimos.
As always, Happy Writing!
